Life life beyond your imagination.
Where does it all begin? It begins with your earliest experiences. Some of us had optimal early experiences. Some of us had sub-optimal or adverse early experiences. No matter what happened, you may have been forever changed, but not forever damaged. Resilience and well-being are the key to unlocking your fullest potential.
Resilience Defined
Resilience is not something you can pick up at your local big box store or buy online. Resilience is when we overcome adversity or challenge with hope and optimism to achieve our goals.
Resilience happens, over time, through trial and error. then building a skill to find your way out of the challenging situation. Stress is something that will always be a part of our lives. Acute stress is normal, healthy and actually good for us. Examples of acute stress might include taking a test, having someone cut you off on the highway or missing a deadline. The type of stress we all need to be on the lookout for is called, "Chronic Stress." This type of stress can really wear and tear our bodies and emotional stability. Examples of this type of stress include stressors such as, abuse, neglect, bullying, divorce, national disasters, racism and discrimination.
The good news is that resilience is built by how we respond to our stressors in life. Think of the last time you were stressed. How did you manage to get through it? Did you have anyone to support you? What strengths and skills did you use most? What did you say to yourself in the process? These are all clues to how you gained resilience. Sometimes resilience comes naturally, such as bouncing back from a difficult task or project. And, sometimes, resilience needs a boost from a non-judgmental source who can listen to your challenges and spark hope in your dreams.
A coach works along side of clients to offer support, reframe negative thoughts, showcase your strengths, and co-create action steps towards building resilience and achieving your desired goals in life. This, in itself, is resilience-building.
